Equipment

At Midwestern Drilling, we have the equipment you need to get the job done right. We own three Geoprobe Rigs, multiple Hollow Stem Augers and Dual Tube Sampling systems. We add new equipment regularly, to keep up with demand and technology changes.

Geoprobe® 7822DT Combo Rig

The 7822DT Combo Rig is the industry’s benchmark for direct push equipment, this high-capacity machine has a narrow platform, and we are able to move from site to site quickly as the machines are mounted on a truck.

It features an overhead mast and winch, with a GH63 Percussion Hammer. With a quick change over, this machine also allows us to install 3/4 to 4 inch monitoring wells as well as split spoon sampling utilizing Geoprobe’s automatic drop hammer.

The 7822 can core through rock, and features two and four speed auger head options. Applications include soil sampling, groundwater sampling, monitoring well installations, tooling, and SPT sampling.

Geoprobe® Model 6610DT

This direct push machine is a smaller Geoprobe rig, which can fit into difficult to reach or confined spaces to get the work done. Due to the smaller size of the machine and the tracks, we are able to perform direct push sampling in most site conditions. The weight of the unit is evenly distributed over both tracks, so the Model 6610DT can easily maneuver through shallow water, soft ground, or muddy fields.  Our Geoprobe 6610DT is only 4 feet wide and allows us to perform sampling indoors as well as outside in rough terrain.

The Geoprobe 6610DT also has augering capabilities.  With a quick change over, we can drill with hollow-stem augers and install 2 inch monitoring wells.  This dual purpose rig can save on your project time and mobilization costs.

Hollow Stem Augers

We use hollow stem augers to set environmental groundwater monitoring wells. Hollow stem augers range in diameter, as hole widths vary based on the project type and objective. At Midwestern Drilling, we have 3.25″, 4.25″ and 6.25″ augers, allowing us to drill for environmental well monitoring and leave enough space for filter pack.

Hollow stem auger drilling allows soil samples to be collected without contamination. Hollow stem augers are useful in wet or sandy soils, as the hollow stem can act as a temporary casing, preventing the sides of the bore hold from caving in. Hollow stem augers drill quickly through many soil types, including clay, which can keep an environmental drilling project more cost-effective.

Our Equipment

In addition to our Geoprobe rigs and hollow stem augers, we have other equipment to assist with drilling and soil sampling. Specifications for some of our frequently used equipment is included in this list.
